Why I have chosen Maggie's?
“Above all what matters is not to lose the joy of living in
the fear of dying”
This message is so powerful and the reason I have chosen
Maggie's for my charity this year is because their centres can help anyone
affected by cancer, including family and friends. Maggie's was created to give
the support to those affected with everything the hospital couldn't.
I have seen cancer tear families apart. My uncle Mark, giant
teddy bear and the picture of health battled cancer for 3 years before he could
fight no more. My auntie Tara, with the kindest heart had to find the courage
to raise their three children. Then only 5 years after losing Mark, her best
friend was diagnosed and also lost her life. The three children now have no
parents. Its sole destroying.
Helen, our dear mummy friend with the most engaging smile and beautiful heart at the
age of 39 lost her fight - she has a wonderful husband and 2 gorgeous kids.
They all need support - this is where Maggie's can help.
Maggie's relies on the generosity of their supporters in the
local community. They focus on the things that really make a difference, such
as financial worries, help with managing stress and anxiety as well as side
effects of treatment.
There are 24 centres in the UK, welcoming 100+ visitors into
each centre every day.
This is my first marathon and I am very proud to be running
for Maggie's - thank you for your support!
For Mark, Tara, Helen, their families and all those affected.
