Story
Rhino Ark’s electric fences protect critical mountain forests
that are the ‘water towers’ of Kenya. These mountain forests are vital
ecosystems that support the country’s economic development and the well-being of most Kenyans. Together the Aberdares, Mt. Kenya and the Mau Forest – the three mountain ecosystems where Rhino Ark operates.
The Rhino Charge event that took place on 3rd June 2022, in Mosiro, Kajiado County, raised a remarkable KES 156 million shillings with your help last year for the conservation of Kenya’ mountain ecosystems.
Team Fat Rhino's Car 24 consists of petrol heads with a passion for
conservation. Core group have been part of conservation and motorsport for over 25 years, we have participated in Rhino Charge for over 15 years taking our modified Toyota Landcruiser 1989 - "Fat Betty" to the limit. The Rhino Charge is an annual off-road competition held in Kenya in which entrants are required to visit a number of points (Guard Posts) while travelling the shortest possible distance across difficult, trackless terrain, where speed is penalised.
We charge to save the water catchments that Kenya has and help the communities and raise much needed funds for the Rhino Ark. Every year we go to different areas and terrain and the draw to be in the middle of nowhere surrounded by the amazing beauty of nature and wildlife and ironically the sound of 60 other cars in a remote part of Kenya.
Any help is gratefully appreciated and 100% donated goes directly to Rhino Ark
