Story
I'm part of a group of cold water swimmers who meet at Parliament Hill Lido and who are training to swim the channel together in summer 2021 to raise money for The Alexa Trust. A channel relay is no easy task, but we’re keen to complete this with smiles on our faces and as few jelly stings as possible!
I have always wanted to swim the channel but life is busy enough and I didn't think I had it in me right now. Lockdown came and I knew I needed a challenge and so our relay team was born (& thank eff for them!).
I'm not the most obvious athlete but for some reason I like to challenge my body. It deals with late nights, cold water, cheese, running, too much work, endometriosis, climbing Kilimanjaro, Sauvignon Blanc... But it all helps me stay sane, not just for myself but for my friends and family.
What it's like to be a parent of a neo natal baby isn't something I've experienced first hand, rather I've known it through the experiences of some of my closest friends. And if I all I can do it raise a bit of money to support of The Alexa Trust to help people through such a hard time, then I'll take some freezing cold water and jelly stings!
