Story
RSG has helped refugees and asylum seekers to rebuild their lives in Berkshire since 1994. Each year, they help hundreds of people from more than 50 countries who have escaped from war, violence and persecution. Many have been victims of human trafficking, torture and modern slavery.
The charity provides free legal advice, social activities, mental health support education and practical help for refugees across Berkshire.
Following the Afghanistan Crisis last year, RSG have been supporting 300 Afghan refugees being housed in temporary hotels, along with aiding 30 families settling permanently in Berkshire. The charity are also supporting around 400 people from other parts of the world being housed in hotels with little outside support.
RSG are preparing for Ukranian refugees to arrive in the coming weeks, who will again need specialised support.
I have never run an ultra-marathon before. This is going to be a difficult task, for which I am preparing by putting in many hours of running in the weeks leading up to the event. Throughout my training, and the event itself, it is worth remembering that the work I put into this is nowhere near as diffcult as the hardships faced on a daily basis by people fleeing conflict.
Every pound you donate helps to continue this vital service for refugees and asylum seekers in Berkshire, so please give generously!
