Story
In March 2024 I will be undertaking the Arctic Blast Snow Shoe Challenge in aid of NHS Velindre Cardiff Within a small team I will be hiking 100km across the Arctic circle in extremely challenging conditions. This is by no means going to be easy, and I have put a lot of consideration into what it’s going to take both physically and mentally to be able to undertake it. I suppose the most important question here is why? (And please bare with me I’m not the best with words) Cancer is not selective, it doesn’t care if you’re rich or poor, it doesn’t care what car you drive or how many friends you have. It can affect anyone at anytime, even if you’re at your healthiest. Two close family members of mine have recently been effected by cancer, two extremely strong individuals who have never indulged in the stereotypical ‘cancer causing’ behaviours we see on the media. But like I said, cancer is not selective. It was thanks to NHS Velindre that my family, along with so many others are alive today. They work constantly to fight the ongoing battle and have never lost hope for a second. This is our community that they are fighting for, our friends, and our families. This is why it is so important to give them all the help that we can so they can continue to fight alongside those closest to us, because at the end of the day you never know when you’re are going to need them in your corner. That is my reason why. Supporting NHS Velindre is supporting our futures.
