السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh✨
This year Insha'Allah I turn 22 on the 22nd of May and in the blessed month of Ramadan, and so I wanted to do something special and important for it. Looking at the situation that has befallen us worldwide, I couldn't help but think of the countless lives that have been affected. So I decided to fundraise: £2222 for my 22nd for the 22nd! Here is for who and why :
With the ongoing conflict in Yemen – already one of the poorest countries in the region – tens of thousands of lives have been lost and over 20 million people don’t know where their next meal will come from. A country crippled by conflict is sadly now on the brink of famine.
Yemen now officially hosts the world’s largest human-induced food security crisis.
- 19.7 million people need basic healthcare
- Almost 18 million people are in need of water and sanitation facilities
- Over 3 million people have been left displaced by conflict
On the ground in Yemen, the situation is dire and things are getting worse each and every day.
With your support we can help these communities in their hour of need.
Islamic Relief has provided food to over 2.5 million people – Help them to continue their work
As one of the five pillars of Islam, Zakat i.e. charity is a religious obligation for all us Muslims. An act which in turn benefits us abundantly! When giving charity we are promised abundant reward by our Lord in return for our efforts!
“Those who spend their wealth in Allah’s cause are like grains of corn which produce seven ears, each bearing a hundred grains.” (Qur’an, 2:261)🌾
Charity, and this cause especially, serves as a way to bring justice, balance and kindness to every society and community. Allah SWT promises us that if we train ourselves to give in times of ease and hardship, our sustenance will increase. Giving awakens our souls and triggers genuine concern for the well-being of others. Priority in this cause is given to feeding the poor and the needy, as that is one of the best acts in Islam! There are several ahadith of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ which remind us of its importance: “When a person dies his works end, except for three: ongoing charity, knowledge that is benefited from, and a righteous child who prays for him.” (Muslim, Al-Tirmidhi, others)
The personal sacrifice of giving one’s possessions, no matter how small, for the sake of helping those in need is a blessing and means for purifying our souls and wealth. We will never attain righteousness until we love for our brothers and sisters what we love for ourselves. It is important that we remember that everything in this world is loaned to us for a brief period of time. The true test is the test of giving the given.Coronavirus Appeal: The clock is ticking on YemenThe UN has warned that the clock is ticking on the Coronavirus threat in Yemen. With the country having registered its first official case, Yemen is gearing itself up to fight this devastating pandemic, but unfortunately the country has limited resources that allow for detection, isolation and treatment of the disease.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, Insha’Allah you will be able to help whether it is by contributing to this important cause or raising further awareness by sharing this page with others.
“Allah, the Exalted, says, ‘Spend, O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you.’” – Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Al-Bukhari and Muslim). How will you give today?
JazakAllah Khair ❤️
