Story
Since leaving the BBC last year I've been searching for both a charity and a challenge that got my heart racing. Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro certainly gives me butterflies - well, trampling elephants (!) - in my tummy and the charity VEPK is small, personal and achieves great things with very few resources. I wanted to see the money making a difference. A local lady from Sevenoaks started this charity, on her own, 20 years ago, and quite frankly she's done the SE proud! Providing education and training for young people has boosted the community, and there's so much more still to be done - in fact my few words don't do it justice.
I'll be setting off in September to do this challenge; it's a hard 6-7 days slog of trekking up to 12 hours per day, basic camping and no showers so it's going to be tough! If you see me jogging, lugging a big ruck sack, or power walking through your local town - please give me a wave as it'll mean a lot to me! I appreciate all your support - so thank you x
PS. Don't forget to leave me your email address so I can write and thank you - and I'll even send you a signed piccy in the post too!
