Kacper's Everest Challenge 2023!
Fundraising for Meningitis Research Foundation
Fundraising for Meningitis Research Foundation
Hi,
I’m Kacper, a University of Lincoln MSc Marketing student. I have committed to conquering Mount Everest by taking part in the base camp challenge in support of the Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF), and their fight to defeat Meningitis and Septicaemia by the year 2030.
Did you know that Meningitis and newborns' Sepsis are responsible for more deaths of children under 5 than Malaria, Measles, Tetanus and AIDs combined? Meningitis is a devastating disease with a high case fatality rate and leads to serious long-term complications. Around 1 in 10 people who get bacterial meningitis die. Fortunately, 7-year-old Luke was one of the lucky ones. Luke fell ill with Meningococcal Meningitis just before Christmas 2019 and was rushed to hospital, from where he was later transferred to Sheffield Children’s Hospital, where his life was saved. What seemed like a regular cold at first glance, ended up turning the life of Luke and his family upside down after surgery was required to remove both of his arms and legs.
The trek will take place in August 2023, and will last 2 weeks, but the impact of every donation will be immeasurable and felt for years to come. All donations, no matter the size, will in one way or another affect the lives of millions of people around the world and will go directly towards vital research, vaccines and support for those like Luke, who have already been affected.
Thank you so much for your time and generosity!
Kacper
