Story
On Sunday 14th April, I will be running in the Brighton Marathon supporting Macmillan Cancer Support, in memory of my Dad, Geoff Wallis.
Later in April we, as a family, will celebrate both Max's 2nd birthday & the 2nd year after my Dad's passing. It seems unbelievable that we have lived 2 whole years without him. Dad was a joy to be around, he loved more than anything to be surrounded by family & friends & it was during these moments that he shone. Nothing & no one can replace him.
I am so grateful for the precious time that we spent living in Cheshire, just a few minutes away from Mum & Dad's house. They would religiously visit us every Friday & Apple used to sit on Dad's lap whilst he read her favourite books to her. Dad passed away just 2 days after Max's birth & very sadly he did not get to meet his only grandson. What gives me so much comfort is how much Max embodies the spirit of my Dad, his sense of fun, cheekiness & joy for life.
During the past few months of gruelling training, endless bugs and illnesses, I have been tempted on many an occasion to throw in the towel, but one of the traits that Dad & I share is tenacity (or stubborness as my Mum might put it!) and I will see this race through to the end, wearing Dad's name on my Macmillan race vest with pride.
Thank you for any donation you can make, it means so much to me & my family.
