Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable condition that affects your brain and spinal cord. In MS, the coating that protects your nerves (myelin) is damaged. This causes a range of symptoms like blurred vision and problems with how we move, think and feel.More than 130,000 people in the UK have MS. Once diagnosed, MS stays with you for life, but treatments and specialists can help you to manage the condition and its symptoms. The MS Society is here to help everyone live well with MS.Every year they reach thousands of people with help and support through their MS Helpline and local groups. They campaign on the issues that matter most to the MS community. And they invest in ground-breaking research to stop MS in its tracks.Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.

My new life journey started in 2018 - a scary and unpredictable time. After 18 months of uncertainty, depression and denial I decided to own it and try every day to be positive and focus on what I can do not what I can’t do, to that end cycling has become a passion alongside kayaking. There are 3 of us with MS with my own family, 2 members of extended family have been diagnosed and 2 friends also with MS.  Each and everyone of us have different symptoms and struggles however if you know someone with MS be kind -  as stress can be a trigger, take a moment to appreciate the energy and effort it takes some days for us just to leave the house.
