At times of overseas emergency, the DEC brings together a unique alliance of the UK's aid, corporate, public and broadcasting sectors to rally the nation's compassion, and ensure that funds raised go to DEC agencies best placed to deliver effective and timely relief to people most in need.

Story

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We are Juliet, Zoya, Sofia A, Sofia F, Cindy, Emily, Emma H, Melina, Swathika, Bethany, Hannah, Alice and Jacob. We have been busy over half term, planning and practicing as we want to make a difference! Please come along to support us, you will not be dissapointed!

We really want to help this amazing charity because the earthquakes have ruined many peoples lives and we have read about the amazing work this charity is doing. Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) charity is among the first responders, working with locally-led relief efforts in Turkey (now known as Türkiye) and Syria. Immediate priorities are search and rescue, medical treatment for the injured, shelter for those who have lost their homes, heaters for spaces and winter kits with blankets, and warm clothes, and ensuring people have food and clean water. How will the money raised by us help?

  • £30 will provide blankets for 6 people to keep them warm ( imagine being in freezing cold temperatures with nothing to keep you warm.)
  • £50 will provide emergency food for 2 families for 10 days.
  • £100 will provide emergency shelter for 4 families.

Thousands of buildings, including hospitals and schools, have collapsed.  "These have been some of the strongest earthquakes in Turkey in 100 years and aftershocks have disrupted communications and electricity supplies, many people are too afraid to go inside, choosing to sleep in their cars instead."

We thought about organising an "All in 1 concert" as all of our friends have special talents. We decided to play some of our pieces we are working on (right at this moment) from initial grade to grade eight. Please be prepared to be amazed as all of us have been working very hard, regardless of our grades. Get ready for a special treat!

At the end of the show there will be special refreshments for all of you to enjoy! From yummy samosas to delicious cupcakes and special cakes, there will be something for everyone to enjoy!

We are looking forward to seeing you on Friday 17th February 2023 from 5:30pm to 6:30pm.

We would like to say a big thank you to Gordon's school for their kindness, support and generosity in offering us their amazing hall free of charge.

We would also like to say a big thank our incredible piano teacher Mrs  Pearce for all her help and support. Thank you for being such an outstanding piano teacher!

Nevertheless, we would like to thank every single one of you for listening to our piano playing, enjoying one hour with us and helping us make a difference!
