Story
I decided to support this cause because I've recently been inspired (and quite moved) by a virtual reality experience of the European Union's Pollinator Park which shows how important bees and other pollinators are to the future of humanity and other species on the planet. You can find out more information and have a go at the online experience on the project's website: https://ec.europa.eu/environment/pollinator-park.
I'm still learning about different initiatives to support wildlife and the natural environment but the more I learn, the more I want to contribute in the best way I can. From planting wildflowers in my little yard, shopping sustainably, sharing with neighbours and upcycling to fundraising for the causes that matter to me. Small actions lead to big changes! In the gallery, you can view a few photographs of my attempts at gardening in 2021 :)
At first glance, bumblebees don't seem like heroes or something to be thankful for. It's common for people to even despise them and see them as intruders. In busy daily lives, it's easy to forget that we (humans) are part of a long-established and functioning ecosystem. We too play a role and it's up to us to decide how we contribute.
You can read more details about this fundraising campaign on the Bumblee Conservation Trust page.
