Story
We are holding a university wide fundraiser, hoping to cover the distance from Coventry to Afghanistan- 5,784km in 6 weeks, from March 2nd to April 14th!
Afghanistan is in the grip of a catastrophic food shortage- 22.8 million people- half of the population, don't have enough to eat. They are still in the midst of the bitter Winter cold, with temperatures dropping to -20C. The World Food Program has called the situation: “the worst humanitarian crisis on Earth and the Disasters Emergency Committee, of which Tearfund is a part, have launched an urgent appeal.
Donating to this fundraiser today will help Tearfund support local partners to provide emergency food packages, as well as distribute winter kits to help families who have lost their homes stay warm. The generous donations of supporters have already made a difference hundreds of families have received life-saving support. But the situation is getting worse every day.We are not living like normal humans, says Muhannad. "How will life go on in a family without bread, clothes, fuel, and less than 80 pence per week?" Tearfund are a well established charity, which partners with local organisations and churches to ensure community-led, tailored support and development. This method of aid is particularly beneficial in the case of Afghanistan, where aid agencies have struggled to reach communities.
Thank you for your support!
