North London Cares is a community network of young professionals and older neighbours hanging out and helping one another in our rapidly changing city. I haven't made any big birthday plans this year, so instead I'd love to encourage giving to this wonderful charity because I am so passionate about the work that they do.
I have been volunteering for The Cares Family for the last few years, first in South London and now in North London where I have lived for the last year. I've danced, sang, quizzed, painted and created podcasts with my older neighbours. Spending this time with my neighbours like Mike has helped us feel valued and visible in what can be a very lonely city.
As most of you know, London is a place of extremes. While our capital is one of the most dynamic places in the world, it can also be anonymous, lonely and isolating.
For my older neighbours, many of whom have spent a lifetime in their home neighbourhoods in Camden and Islington, the rush and pace of the city can often now feel too much. North London Cares seeks to address this modern blight of disconnection in the capital by harnessing the people and places around us for the benefit of all.
If you were thinking of buying me a card, cake or drink then I'd encourage you to donate some pounds to this wonderful charity instead. You will be helping continue their brilliant work connecting neighbours through outreach, social clubs and home visits in North London.
Thank you so much for visiting my page and taking the time to read this.
xx
