On 11 July 2010 I will be taking part in The British 10k London Run on 11 July 2010 to raise money for The Mayhew Animal Home. This is my first 10k run and I'm thrilled to be raising money for a charity that means a great deal to me and does so much for the welfare of animals in London. 

Established in 1886 the Mayhew is one of the busiest and most effective animal centres in London, rescuing thousands of animals from cruelty and neglect.  The Mayhew takes in and cares for unwanted or abused animals and rehomes them with responsible, caring owners; ensures that no healthy animal in their care is put to sleep; prevents unwanted animals through their neutering and outreach programmes and promotes respect and compassion for animals through their activities, campaigns and education programes.

The Mayhew has a constant flow of animals all desperate to find their forever home and a waiting list of hundreds of animals wanting to come in from owners who can no longer care for them, or simply don't want to. As The Mayhew relies solely on donations, even a small amount will be a huge help.
