Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the Aviemore Half Marathon on Sunday 12th October to celebrate and remember my husband, Ken, who died in a road accident on 12th October 2008, and also my father, Eddie Thompson, who died 3 days later on 15th October from prostate cancer.
Life has been very difficult since losing 2 of the most dearest people to me yet through the strength they have given me in their own way I have managed to move forward with my life. It's now been 6 years since I lost Ken and Dad and, while I think of them both every day and always will, I have begun to create a new life with our beautiful son, Monty. I want to now celebrate their lives and my new life and I thought there was no better way of doing this than by setting myself a challenge to use that strength and to do something worthwhile. This is where you come in......
My Dad loved the Maggies Centre in Dundee. He spent many an hour there while he was dying with cancer. It gave him the opportunity to get away from the Hospital environment and enjoy some peace as well as meeting other people in his situation. Dad was well known and well loved in Dundee. Many of you will remember him as the Chairman of his beloved football Club, Dundee United. Many of you will remember him for his love of the Club, his humour, his generosity and many other things. I will remember him for being my wonderful, beautiful Dad who I dearly loved.
Maggies Centres are wonderful places for those in need of that solace or contact with those in similar situations. Please donate if you can.
