Story

Amazing to think I am still alive from a rare disease called, Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) surviving 15 lung collapses and a 3 week coma, and having a double lung transplant in 2006. I had to learn to walk again after being in a coma and now feel honoured to be part of Team GB for the World Transplant Games 2013. I will be competing in Badminton, shot put and discus. LAM is a rare circulatory illness mainly affecting the lungs, kidneys and in rare cases the brain.

In November 2012, I was very humbled to make 'Top 5 Inspirational Woman of the Year' Finalist from over 1,000 entries in the Daily Mail. I had lunch at No:10 with Samantha Cameron - with the other finalists. Then the evening was a celebrity event, wherby I actively promoted Organ Donation whilst on stage.

Please support me - even if £1.00 (price of a lottery ticket) as 'every little helps'. Ta x

You can follow my progress/learn more about me via my blog www.justinedoublelungs.blogspot.co.uk

The funds raised will be used towards my flight, accommodation, food, Team GB kit/clothing, cost of training/membership, travel to Team Meetings and any surplus will go to TSUK medical/physio costs. This will also keep up with my campaigning to spread awareness of Organ Donation on a global scale.
The Games are intended to encourage people to sign up to the Organ Donor Register and discuss their wishes with their families. In
the UK there are currently more than 7,500 people in need of a
transplant, but only 28 per cent of the public are signed up to the
Register. So if you wish to register onto the NHS ODR call *0300 123 23 23, text SAVE to 84118 *or by log onto www.organdonation.nhs.uk
