Story
Harrison was born 12 weeks prematurely on 4 December 2011. He was put on my chest for a fleeting moment where the weakest cry both reassured and terrified us. Our tiny baby was then transported straight to the NICU where he would spend 54 days on life saving support before transferring to the special care nursery.
During this time we became acutely accustomed to the sounds of the machinery keeping our son alive. Initially this was completely overwhelming but the fantastic NHS staff took time to explain and provide the reassurance we needed that he was in the best place possible.
Thankfully after 70 days in hospital and a number of setbacks, Harrison was allowed to come home, where he has continued to thrive - recently hitting the big 10! As a celebration of this and to show our huge appreciation to the wonderful team at King’s College Hospital Neonatal Unit, we would like to raise as much money as possible by cycling a lap of Kenley Aerodrome for each day he spent in hospital (a mere 127 miles!!). We are incredibly grateful for all of your support, whether joining us on the final day (11 June 2022), doing your own mini event, or simply sponsoring us.
Funds raised will contribute to the vital resources and equipment for each baby, in addition to the provision of invaluable facilities and support for families during this incredibly difficult time.
