Jumpstart my Service Year 2022 · 30 June 2022 ·
Hello! We are the the Aloha Jesuit Volunteer community. Can you help jumpstart our service year with JVC Northwest? By contributing, you join us in our mission to help make the Pacific Northwest a sustainable region where all are treated justly and equitably. Your gift goes into a communal pool which keeps our partner nonprofit fees low and allows us to place Jesuit Volunteers in these communities for years to come.
Meet our community:
Liz (she/her) will be serving as an Outreach Specialist for HomePlate Youth Services. She studied Economics and Global Affairs in college, where she also captained her ultimate frisbee team. Liz enjoys hiking, hammocking, and reading in her spare time. Fun fact, Liz and her twin sister will be 8 time zones apart this year as her sister will be studying in London.
Josilyn (she/her) was born and raised in Carson, California and after graduating high school, she moved to Washington where she attended Seattle University as a Criminal Justice and Psychology major. Some of her interests include DIY projects, card crafting, learning about different cultures, exercising, horror movies, and more. She will be serving as a DaySpace and Activities Specialist at Homeplate Youth Services!
Cara (she/her) grew up in New Jersey and later moved to Boston for college, where she fostered her interests in literature and corporate sustainability while studying Marketing and English at Boston College. While in Boston she also found a love for yoga, quirky coffee shops, and trying new foods at Trader Joe's. Cara feels most at peace when spending time in nature, and is looking forward to enjoying the beauty of the Pacific Northwest while serving as an Education Specialist at New Avenues for Youth.
Grace (she/her) is excited to serve as the Children's Program Specialist at Community Action Organization's Hillsboro Family Shelter! She grew up in Rochester, NY as the middle of three girls and studied Psychology and Health and Wellness at Binghamton University. She enjoys being in nature, singing, and going for walks.
Olivia (she/her) grew up in Bonney Lake, Washington, which is an hour South of Seattle. She graduated from Gonzaga University with a degree in Psychology and Sociology with a minor in leadership studies. Olivia enjoys playing the piano, going on hikes, movie nights in, and conversations about life with her friends. She will be serving with Northwest Pilot Project as a housing retention specialist which follows her passion for advocating for equitable end-of-life care and better understanding systems.
Thank you so much for jumpstarting our journey and supporting social and ecological justice in the Northwest.
