Story
As some of you may be aware I have been struggling with my hip for over 10 years as a result to the beasting my body has received from football, basketball, rugby and squash and even my wife has never known me to walk without a limp (I like to call it a swagger!).
But the time has now come for me to have my hip replaced and this will be taking place next Tuesday 22nd June. It is a full hip replacement and I am likely to be on crutches for four weeks and not likely to be back on a squash court for at least 3 months but I am looking forward to getting my right sock on without assistance and doing simple things like climbing a staircase without wincing in pain.
Not to be one to miss an opportunity; I would like to give myself a challenge (and some additional motivation) while raising some money for London Youth, a charity that I am passionate about where 100% of the funds raised go directly to helping those young Londoners fulfil their potential in life.
To this end, I have set myself a target of doing 30,000 steps (without crutches) on the 22nd July 2021 which will be exactly one month from my operation. My physio seems to think this is achievable but will need me to build up my daily gentle reps to strengthen my muscles while the soft tissues heal.
I would be eternally grateful if you could sponsor me in this challenge by donating a small sum to help me get back on my feet and hopefully this will coincide nicely with the new ‘freedom date’
Thank you, Julian
