WIZO Aviv

The Aviv Challenge 2010 takes place between 25th and 30th April. This unforgettable sponsored Israel experience for women aged 30-45 will challenge me in ways you or I wouldn't imagine. This is because as part of the trip I will be working hands-on on a number of inspiring WIZO projects.

In fact the type of buckets and spades I will be using on this 'holiday' are more likely to be found on a building site than a beach. Not only will I be physically and tangibly making a difference to the lives of some of the children and women WIZO supports in Israel, but I will also be raising much needed funds to help provide essential social welfare services.

Projects that I get involved with could include:

* Building a dance studio at a residential youth village providing facilities for immigrant children and for children from troubled households who are survivors of abuse and neglect.

*  General renovations, creating a garden and painting a mural at one of WIZO's flagship refuge facilities for abused women.

This is a week that will truly stay with me - and those I will be benefitting - forever. I am sure it will be great fun, I will meet incredible people and have an immensely rewarding experience.
