Story
Alzheimer’s Society are working every day to help those who suffer with dementia. 70% of care home residents suffer with this cruel disease, and this is why Alzheimer’s society are crucial in the battle against dementia. The pandemic has taken a toll on all of us but people with dementia were one of the worst affected.
This is why I’m doing a skydive on the 21st May 2022 in memory of my grandad, Philip Williams, who passed away in November 2019. My grandad suffered with vascular dementia and it was heart-breaking to watch his condition deteriorate; nothing can prepare you for the slow goodbye of losing someone to dementia, as another piece of that person slips away each week. I am forever grateful that during his illness my grandad never lost his sense of humour or his smile, two things that I will always cherish in my memories. But most importantly, I am grateful that he always knew he was loved by everyone around him.
Although my grandad is no longer by my side, I hope that this would make him proud and that he will be with me in some way. I also hope that your donations will help to improve the lives of those who suffer with dementia today.
(No donations will contribute towards the skydive, but will all go directly to the charity)
Thank you
