Story
On 8th October 2014, my niece Anna took her own life aged 19. Anna ended her life far too soon and has left a huge hole in the lives of her family and friends. By taking part in the London to Brighton Charity Cycle Ride in her memory I hope to raise important funds for beat, a charity that offers support and advice to those affected by eating disorders. And also remember Anna for the well loved, wonderful person she was.
I am taking part as a team (Anna's Angels Cycling Crew) which is a mixed group of cyclists of varying skills - as well as myself, the crew is made up of my sister Caroline and nephew Tom and friends of both Anna and Caroline (Abbie, Annette, Keith, Will, Frann, Jane, Katy, Sophie and Clare).
Those who have ever seen me on a bicycle know how difficult I find it even to stay upright so keeping going for 54 miles will be a challenge! But one worth taking in honour of Anna's memory. And if it wasn't a challenge it wouldn't be worth asking for sponsorship ...
By doing this ride I also hope to raise awareness of some of the issues that young people face as well as the support that can be available to see them through the difficult times from organisations such as beat.
