I am taking part in this charity event to play a small part in helping those most affected by crime.  As a police officer, we come and do a job and have very few tools to help those who lives are changed forever, the innocent casualties of crime, particularly children.  This charity helps those children most affected by serious crime such as sexual abuse, having a loved one taken away from them by homicide; such as a mother, father, or sibling or suffered other violent crimes.  This charity aims to provide vital support whether in the form of bringing people together who feel isolated by their experience, or to provide practical and specialist emotional or financial support as well as to provide them with better memories and social support to deal with their trauma.  The aim is to prevent a downward mental or social spiral, to prevent re-victimisation or criminal behaviour themselves - in short to assist in leading toward a healthier, happier and more productive life which is not defined by their experiences.  

In particular, this fundraising is to take 45 children most harmed by their experiences to Euro Disney with their families to create happy family memories and social support from others with similar experiences.  These trips have proved tremendously successful for children and their families and I would like to help others to benefit in the same way this year.
