Story
Dear Friends and Family,
With enormous trepidation I have signed up to run the London Marathon in October this year. Until now, running a marathon has always been on my list of “things I never want to do” and suffering from minor injuries even before the training began has made me a little apprehensive about taking part to say the least!
However, all that said, I am delighted to be running in aid of the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity and am determined to get to both the start and the finish line (one way or another!) in order to raise money for such a wonderful cause.
Working in a school has made me aware that not all children learn in the same way and many find it significantly harder than others: “At Helen Arkell, we are passionate about removing barriers to learning and life, such as dyslexia. We want to promote unsung skills, champion new ways of approaching life. We give people the tools they need to learn in their own way. We train dedicated professionals to inspire people to love learning. We help parents to nurture their children and employers to support their staff. Together we inspire people to believe in themselves, achieve their goals and succeed on their own terms.”
I cannot thank you enough for supporting me. The marathon is taking place on 2nd October 2022 and your fundraising support will be an enormous driver for me as we edge ever closer to that date. I am hideously nervous but excited at the same time. I have a training plan in place, I have started...I will keep you posted on my progress!
Thank you again
love Juliette x
(The Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity leads the way in providing specialist support to children, young people and adults with dyslexia and other Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs). Their mission is to help people: 1. Believe in themselves 2. Achieve their goals and 3. Succeed on their own terms. There is no government funding for dyslexia, despite its lifelong impact. Fundraising is vital to ensure in-depth assessment and tuition is available to anyone with dyslexia, including lower income families and schools in disadvantaged areas.)
