Story
My dear Mum was diagnosed with Frontal Temporal Dementia a few years ago and watching this special lady slowly slip away has been heartbreaking. As many other families affected will understand, we miss the woman she was everyday, but, we cherish the moments we have with her. We may not be able to have a conversation anymore, but holding her hand, taking her for a walk or even brushing her hair have become so precious.
The Alzheimer’s Society has offered support from before Mum's diagnosis when we weren't quite sure what was wrong.
In completing this trek, we hope to raise as much money as we can for this amazing charity in the hope that one day, there will be a treatment and even a cure for this terrifying diagnosis. At the very least, we wish to promote awareness, understanding and compassion for patients and their families.
Mum has always been a keen walker so I think she would be thrillled that we have chosen this way of raising money - Mum this one is for you.
Well done Dad for agreeing to take this one and thank you to my amazing friends Sandy, Niomi and Louise for doing this by my side, your support means the world xx
