Story
Tomorrow (15th September) sees breast op number 9 – well assuming it isn’t cancelled again!! Once again I am in the very capable hands of the breast team from Cheltenham - they really are an amazing team of people who have now cared for me for the past 6 ½ years and I shall always be grateful to them for all they have done/continue to do for me.
As most of you know I have done fundraising for them in the past by means of a Fashion Show and Charity Auctions and Balls and have helped funding specialist nurse training and specialised radiography equipment to aid in early breast cancer detection.
Many of you also know that I have set myself a new challenge – to run my first Ultra Marathon – all 50k of it!! It will take place in Bournemouth on Saturday 16th October. I am training hard and last
week in place of my cancelled op ran 45km – it was tough but restored my belief that I can do the 50km!! Yes, I run lots but believe me this is well outside of my comfort zone and a huge step up from the half marathons I have previously done!
Several people have asked if I am doing it as a fundraiser – so now I am!!
The Cheltenham breast team are hoping to provide lipofilling to patients after reconstructive surgery. At the moment patients have to
go to Birmingham or Oxford for this to be done and while many of the team are trained to do it they don’t have the equipment. They are campaigning for this to change and as someone who, once all the other work is completed, will need this doing what better thing to fundraise for?
I know times are uncertain and tough for many and I know lots of you have supported me in the past but if you have a few pennies you can spare I would be so grateful and it will definitely help spur me on to run all 50km!
Thank you
Julie xx
