So, a new year, a new challenge.  After a failed attempt at running the Budapest Marathon last October, thanks to dodgy shins, I’ve switched from two feet to two wheels.  The plan is to complete the Way of the Roses cycle route over 5 days.  172 miles from Morecambe to Bridlington, with the small matter of the Pennines in the middle. 
And the cause? In July 2010 my lovely sister-in-law, Lynn, was diagnosed with bowel cancer and she died in May 2011.  To lose someone so full of life and love, and so young, made me realise that our future isn’t always as long as we might hope,  so why not do something positive in Lynn’s memory?
During her illness, Lynn received fantastic in-patient care at Tŷ Olwen Hospice at Morriston Hospital in Swansea.  Although Tŷ Olwen has a strong financial commitment from the NHS to fund the day to day running of the service, it is necessary for the Tŷ Olwen Trust to raise additional funds to provide the level of care they feel their patients and their families deserve.
Lynn certainly deserved, and received, that high level of care, and that’s why I’d be really grateful if you could donate whatever you can to the Tŷ Olwen Trust today.  For my part, I’ll be trying to do Lynn proud as I haul myself over the Pennines!
