Story
I did it!!! 10k in just over 1 hour 20 mins - my target. Won't be doing it again but glad to have raised so much money for Macmillan.
So appropriate that it was Father's Day - I am sure Dad would have been proud of me - challenging myself and helping others in the process.
Thanks for everyone's support - I appreciate every single bit.

As many of you know my father, Ray Whittaker, sadly passed away in October last year after a short battle with lung cancer.
Following this, I made two decisions: I needed to get fitter and I wanted to support Macmillan Cancer who have provided so much help and support to the family during Dad's struggle with cancer.
As always being the multi-tasker I decided to combine the two - so I am running in the Macmillan 10K run in June - quite appropriately and totally co-incidentally on Father's Day.
Dad would always be one to help others no matter what they needed and to encourage you to set yourself a challenge - so it's his inspiration that helped me to make the decision to do this. It really is a challenge - the training has started... I have the aching legs to prove it.
I ask you to sponsor me please, and help me give something back to this amazing charity.
You can follow my training progress on this site...
