Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This time last year I was blissfully unaware that I had Crohn's disease, until the 12th May, when I got what I thought was a tummy bug. A week later I was admitted to hospital, where I stayed for another week and then a further 6 weeks at home in bed until I was strong enough to try and get back to normal.
The shock of this experience, of being diagnosed with a life-long disease with no cure and of having to take medication daily for the rest of my life changed everything. I left my job of 10 years and wondered and waited to see if I would be able to live a normal life.
Thankfully, my medication seems to be working well and I am feeling great at the moment. I am now working again - freelancing - and loving it. But sadly, many people with the disease aren't so lucky and face a daily battle with their illness. So, now seems like the right time to support Crohn's and Colitis UK in their fundraising efforts to both find a cure for the disease and to support people with bowel disease.
With my sister, Gill, we will be joining thousands of people in York on the 12th June to walk 10k to raise money for Crohn's and Colitis UK. We would be very grateful for any donation you can make, however small.
Thanks, Julie and Gill x
