Story
Hi there - thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page - do pass my details on to anyone you think would like to donate.
As many of you know, my dear dad passed away on Christmas Day, 2009, from a very rare, aggressive cancer, aged 66. Diagnosed on 16th January, 2009 - 25th December, 2009.
Last year was tough on all of us, but not once did my dad moan or groan - he just kept smiling through the intensive chemo, weekly trips to Mount Vernon for treatment and check-ups (i think you can see what a happy person he was in my photos).
Dad was such a strong, determined, courageous man and I am so privileged and honoured that he was my dad. I had a wonderful, memorable, happy childhood and a bond that was so fantastic with my dad. We holidayed together, socialised together and just had fun together. A family bond that I will cherish forever.
I cared for Dad last year and nursed him at home with my mum - who is so very special and I love her dearly. We did this with the support from the Sam Beare Hospice in Weybridge and the dedicated palliative care nurse - Janey. Without her committment, compassion and support, we would not have coped at such a difficult time. Whatever my dad needed or wanted she made sure things got done - and was there for my family aswell.
Sam Beare is our local hospice - without this, residents of Spelthorne, Runnymede and West Elmbridge - would have nowhere to turn for the specialist care they'd desperately need to cope. They rely on the community to ensure they will always be there to help. I did not realise this until we needed their help.
Now is the part I ask courteously for your money, please.
I am taking part in a 10 mile midnight walk on 18th June, 2010. I would like to raise as much as possible to give something back to the hospice for their support to my dad and family last year.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Please give as much as you can for such a worthwhile cause - every little helps.
I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity.
Keep smiling
Julie
