When I first started out in medicine I always thought I would work overseas. It just never worked out that way - but I am full of admiration and respect for those doctors that continually leave homes and families and work abroad to help those who cannot access medical care in the way that we all take for granted. They go where they are needed most. 

I have been so fortunate here at Islip, working in a lovely area, with a great team and supportive patients, but I know that there is always more to be done. I no longer think that my skills are those that would help in difficult areas but please help support those that do! It would be the best possible present for my retirement.
