We fight animal cruelty around the world to keep all animals safe and happy

Story

This July I am taking part in a channel relay to France with my team, the Honey Badgers. We'll be swimming without wetsuits from Dover to France, each taking a turn to swim for an hour, repeating until we hit land. Its 21 miles as the crow flies, but in the end we will probably swim around 35 miles allowing for tides. We imagine it will take us around 15-18 hours to get there.

We train together in Dover Harbour every weekend, and its cold, tastes of diesel and when we come out we are slimy with algae and goodness knows what! It is a big challenge, weather and tides play a huge role in whether or not we make it. To date only about 50% of attempts make it across and hit land in France. It would mean the world to me if any of you are able to sponsor me even just a small amount.

If you are interested, you will be able to track my swim online here http://cspf.co.uk/tracking by selecting 'Anastasia'- the name of our escort boat. Channel attempts go on the best weather during their booked tide- for me that means I need to be ready for 'the call' from my pilot any time between the 9th and 16th of July!

I am raising money for World Animal Protection, specifically their Sea Change campaign,

Ghost fishing gear is a huge problem, with lost or abandoned fishing gear responsible for the deaths of thousands of birds animals and sea life. World Animal Protection are making a commitment to raise awareness of this and save a million lives by 2018... and i want to help them on their way.

...here is an infographic about the problem, what causes it and how we can all help:
