Story
On the 27th May Anthony Stammers will have been missing for 10 years and we have missed him every single day.
We wanted to mark this date to raise awareness in the hope that there may be a way to reach Anthony and let him know that we are still here for him when he is ready to get in touch or come home. We would love to know he is safe.
We also wanted to use this occasion to raise funds for the charity Missing People who have been helping and supporting our family in so many ways almost from the day Ant went missing. Without the wonderful people at the charity the unbearable experience of having a loved one go missing would have been even more difficult. As a family we are working together to raise these funds in two ways ending at Colchester Parkrun on Saturday 28th May.
Rob and Julie’s walk for Ant: We will be walking 5k a day for 10 days - a day for every year Ant has been missing( 50 kilometres in total).
Starting on Thursday 19th May Julie, Rob and Cathy will kick off at midday at the Bandstand in Castle Park, Colchester. We will start there at midday everyday until Friday 27th May. We would like to invite people to join us , whether that will be for 100 metres or for the 5k, we will need all the encouragement we can muster!
James’s Run for Anthony 27th-28th May: His recent appearance on SAS Who Dares Wins did not allow James to tell the story of Anthony on national television as he had hoped. But he is determined to raise awareness by running 100k through the night from Kingston-Upon-Thames (where Anthony went to University) to Colchester to join the family on the last day of their 50k walk. He is hoping that some of the other contestants who have become close friends will be able to join him on some legs of the journey.
Saturday 28th May 9am: All the lovely people at Colchester parkrun have kindly said they will ask the runners on that morning to wear Ant’s appeal poster. Rob and I will be the tail walkers. At 10.30am, we will meet at the Bandstand for the final 5k. We are asking Ant’s friends and any willing supporters to join us. We will have Anthony's poster for you to wear. If any runners around the country would like to support us by wearing Anthony's poster on their own Parkrun please visit https://www.missingpeople.org.uk/ where you can download Anthony's appeal poster.
By joining together to raise awareness we will hopefully reach out to Ant or someone that knows where he is and make contact. Your support means everything to us.
Thank you, Julie, Rob, Cathy and James x
