Story
I have worked in care since the age of 17, working predominantly with people who have dementia so this is very close to my heart.
It is a very worthwhile charity, helping to find a cure whilst also supporting sufferers of this horrible condition. The Alzheimer’s Society does an amazing job supporting those with dementia and their families, and they need our help to cope with the ever increasing demands of an ageing population.
- 850,000 people live with dementia in the UK, if we don’t take action this number is predicted to rise to over two million by 2051.
- 225,000 people develop dementia every year, that’s roughly one person every three minutes
- 1,340,000,000 hours were spent caring for people with dementia in 2015. That’s more than 150,000 years.
I will be doing a sky dive on July 18th to raise money, please donate whatever you can and support the fight against dementia.
