Top 10 Reasons why I volunteer and give to the YMCA!
1. The YMCA offers sports programs such as Basketball.
2. I loved playing sports growing up, especially basketball. It taught me how to work with a team, how to lose graciously and gave me confidence. Every child needs to have this opportunity!
3. The YMCA offers free swim lessons every spring.
4. I wish I would have taken swim lessons as a child at the YMCA. When I was training for Ironman AZ, at 30 years old I needed to learn to swim properly. It was not a pretty sight!
5. During this past year, the YMCA stayed open for emergency day-care services during "covid shut down".
6. Several emergency workers I know needed help during that time. They did not have local family to help with childcare. The YMCA was a great resource!
7. When students were going to school online and parents couldn't be home to support their studies, the Y Academy was an available alternative with essential health and safety guidelines.
8. As we all have heard, learning on-line especially for "littles" is very challenging. Y Academy offers a fun learning environment and activities once learning hours are complete.
9. I had always wanted to go to summer camp as a child. Camp Sky-Y in Prescott offers a traditional summer camp experience with all the fun activities of Canoeing, Archery, Fishing and much more! More than 350 sponsorships are available for those families that need financial assistance.
10. YMCA Program Scholarships are available based on need. Many of our neighbors need additional support at this time. The YMCA is that community resource!
