Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
As we have reached our target for the Sreening we have set up this page because we would like to raise money for CRY's Research Programme.
November 2010 our beauitiful 25 year old daughter Rebecca suddenly collapsed when she was at a party celebrating a friends birthday, she had been having a lovely evening with her boyfriend and friends, dancing, singing and having fun as she did most weekends, as the evening was coming to an end Rebecca began to feel unwell and collapsed.
At 11.45 our phone rang and the nightmare began, when we got to the football club where the party was we were told that Rebecca had been given cpr by two of her friends who were Fireman, they had worked on her until the paramedics arrived, Rebecca was taken to hospital and the doctors done everything they could to save her but she sadly died.
We were totally shocked and devastated, how could someone so young and healthy suddenly die ! ?
Rebecca had always been in good health and never showed any signs that she had a heart condition called Arrhythogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC) this is one of many heart conditions which cause unexpected death in the young.
CRY have been so wonderful giving us support and advice, they made all the arrangements for our family to be screened to see if any of us had the same heart condition, we were seen at St Georges Hospital London by Professor Sanjay Sharma and his team who were so good and made a very traumatic time easier for us.
There at least 12 young adults a week dying from sudden cardiac arrest, we want to help fund screening for youngsters in our local area, this screening could save lives and prevent other parents going through the trauma, pain and heartbreak that we have had to deal with.
Thank you so much Julie & Pete xx
