Story
I lost my Beauitful Mum to Cancer on the 17th July 1995 age 59.
All she wanted to do was stay in her own home and spend her last days with her family, enjoying and making even more happy memories with us all.
We decided as a family that we would be the ones who would provide all her care. But even with a couple of us working within the healthcare profession we soon realised that we would struggle to cope in those final days and hours.
With one phone call we were introduced to the invaluable service provided by the Marie Curie Nurses. Staying with us throughout the night when we felt most vulnerable they kept my Mum pain free and comfortable and allowing her to have a dignified and peaceful death. For the family it was just the knowing smile, the words of reaasurance the arm around you whilst you cried that made the most difficult experience of my our lifes somewhat easier.
They were with us right to the end, even staying on after the end of their shift, to make sure we were not alone when my Mum passed.
I can't put into words how they impacted on mine and my families life, and we will be forever indebted to them.
