Story

I'm taking part in the official Dry January as a personal challenge. I enjoy a regular glass of wine and feel that after the winter and Christmas period, when over-eating and drinking alcohol seem almost obligatory, its time to detox a little and to get 2020 off to a healthier start!

I would also like to raise money for Alcohol Change UK, because alcohol does so much harm. Alcohol harm is all around us. It affects the 200,000 children living with alcohol-dependent parents in England. Approximately 1.2 million people were admitted to hospital because of alcohol last year.

Every day in the UK twenty people die as a result of alcohol. Alcohol harm can include mental health problems, liver disease, one of seven forms of cancer, economic difficulties, and so much more.

I don't usually ask for sponsorship for events, but this seems like such a good cause, especially after a time of year when drinking alcohol is so normalised. Please sponsor me and help to change and save lives. Any amount would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Julie
