Story
This year I want to do as much as I can to raise awareness and money for Mesothelioma UK. Unfortunately this illness took my dearest dad away from us in September 2020.
My dad had pleural mesothelioma which came about from being exposed to asbestos in his workplace back in the 1960's when he was a carpenter and joiner. It laid dormant in his lungs until 2018 when he then began to have symptoms. Up until that point dad had never really been ill at all in his life and it was a complete shock to us all.
Pleural Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that affects the mesothelium. The mesothelium is a thin membrane that lines the inner surface of the chest wall, where it is known as the pleura.
Research is needed to develop new treatments to help those affected by this cruel disease.
I am taking part in #FitnessFebruary4Meso with my sister Alison and we want to run 40k in February. 10k a week is my goal but I may do more!!
Please help me raise funds for such an amazing cause. Don't forget to Gift Aid your donations so that the charity can get an extra 25% at no cost to you! Wish me luck!
