Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am doing 300 miles either running or cycling through June in a bid to raise £300.
In 2016 my dad began a journey with vasculitis a cruel life changing and debilitating disease which took away many of the things the things he loved plus his pride, dignity, and independence. Over the years that followed he overcame so much adversity, including learning to walk again at 68 with prosthetics. So much was thrown at him; he struggled with his mental health, overcame sepsis twice, lost his freedom, independence and dignity, becoming wheelchair reliant. A fiercly proud and fun loving man with a zest for life and a party he took it all; always smiling through the bad and crying through the good.
To watch the extreme and excruciating pain he suffered was horrific for us all, but as he overcame every milestone he stunned us all with unbelieavable strength and determination. The pride we felt could not be measured but it was coupled with so much sadness for him.
In August 2019, he faced a 2nd leg amputation again to save his life unlike the first one he did not recover well and healing was slow due to poor blood flow, his organs could not cope and sadly he passed away in October 2019.
I look back over this and see only his incredible strength, determination and sensitivity, hoping I have inherited these things.
I am raising money in his memory, as he and the family had little support guidance through the three years, I did not know there was a charity that could have helped us but now I do I would like to raise money to help others going through this journey.
