Kilimanjaro Challenge · 15 October 2022

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Rachel and I embarked on this mission some time ago (pre-COVID19) to raise awareness for a charity very close to our hearts - Parkinson's UK. Both our mum's have suffered with this disease for some years and their quality of life would have suffered greatly had it not been for the research and work of the Parkinson's UK charity.

Unfortunately, during the time that we had initially booked to undertake the challenge for May 2020, COVID19 took hold and we had to re-schedule our mission until the new date now of 15th October 2022. Sadly, during this delay my Mum Geraldine Plumtree was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and died in October 2021.

Although my mum lost her battle with pancreatic cancer, she was adamant that I was to continue with this mission to raise money and awareness for Parkinson's UK.

Initially inspired by our mums, this is to raise funds for all Parkinson's sufferers out there - together we will find a cure.
