My Aunty Dorothy had incurable and very painful skin cancer.  To make her last weeks as comfortable and peaceful as possible Bolton Hospice brought in a specially designed bed.  Her room had french windows with patio and chairs overlooking a beautiful summer garden where we could sit and chat.   There was also an adjacent room where her daughter, Jean, could stay the night and be close to her mum.  It was perfect.
