Story
Trekking Machu Picchu has been on my bucket list since I was 19. Now, finally, at 54, I'm actually going trekking Machu Picchu and visiting the Inca citadel. All very exciting. I've combined the trek with a 2 day and night trek and camp within the Amazon rain-forest. An experience I'm very much looking forward to.
I volunteer for the Cancer Hair Care charity as a Cancer Hair Care Advisor. It means a lot to me to be able to give my time to the CHC, I lost my mam and grandad to cancer and I have friends and hairdressing clients who have fought and beat this disease.
As a volunteer advisor I know, first hand, how important the charity is in providing people with the confidence to carry on with their everyday life whilst navigating their hair loss journey at a vulnerable time in their life.
The funds raised through my trek to Machu Picchu will be used to support adults, children and young people via one-to-one consultations, in person or via the telephone, Zoom, Facetime or Skype. When needed, the consultations are followed up with a free patient support pack of information, specialist headwear, eyelashes, Hair Loss Dollies and other specialist hair loss items.
This is not organised through the Cancer Hair Care charity, I'll be travelling solo to Peru and meeting with a group whilst I'm there.
All monies raised will be going to CHC charity as I've paid for the holiday myself. I wanted to raise money for them and feel this is a great way to do it. I hope you agree!!
Thank you all in advance for your kind donation or for just taking the time to read my story.
We aim to make hair loss one less worry.
