Story

I know this is not something that any of you would expect, but I am going to be running in the “2010 adidas Women's 5K Challenge” on 5th September 2010. The reason for the change to my usual response to running anywhere ("me run, I wouldn't even run for a bus") is because I received an email from my Goddaughter Rebecca Young a month or so ago, telling me that her Dad Ian, an old friend of the family; is suffering from a incurable disease known as Huntington's Disease. There is very little known about this disease and at this time, there is little treatment and no known cure. The disease is also hereditary, which means that it is highly possible that my Goddaughter may well develop the disease. Her Grandfather died of the disease at a very early age. I have therefore decided to run for something and that is my Goddaughter, I will obviously still not be running for a bus, unless it's for training purposes:o) I would therefore like to ask for your support and sponsorship. Thank you to everyone who sponsors me, all of the money raised will go to The Huntington's Disease Association, so that they can try and find some kind of cure for this little know disease. The Association also provide support for people with HD, their friends and family and also professionals who work with them; along with respite care, advisors and general help and training for families and carers.
