Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Noah is a much loved and happy 5 year old who was born 8 weeks prematurely and spent the first 4 weeks of his life in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit at Pontefract General Infirmary. He was a tiny 4lb 5oz and was unable to breathe on his own. After 19 months he was diagnosed with Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy. We were advised that he would be unable to walk or possibly talk. Whilst he is unable to walk, he is a very vocal, bright boy who loves life.
The procedure we are so keen to undertake with Noah is done so to offer a better life to children who suffer from Cerebral Palsy. Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy has been conducted in America for over 20 years and has recently been introduced to the UK.
Noah has been lucky enough to be accepted for this procedure and we are waiting to find out whether the NHS will fund the £25,000 operation. In the meantime we need to raise at least £15,000 to cover the aftercare Noah will need to help get him on his feet. This will involve a minimum of 2 years intensive physiotherapy.
Noah is surrounded by love, but this operation will make life a little easier for both him and his family and give him the independence he craves .
