I'm running for West Sussex Mind with my colleagues to raise funds for the charity we work for and to raise awareness about mental health.
Since joining West Sussex Mind last October, I've been inspired by the amazing work it does and particularly how it adapted and evolved to continue supporting people's mental health throughout successive lockdowns. It is now supporting more people than ever across West Sussex.
I also have a personal connection with mental health, as my late mum struggled with her mental health throughout her life. We were sort of aware of this as children, but it's something we became acutely aware of when my Dad passed away when my mum struggled more and more.
I think it's really important to break the taboo around mental health and I look forward to a day when mental health is so accepted that it just becomes part of how we view our health – and not something separate that needs to be somehow hidden. We've made progress in the right direction, but there is still a lot more to do.
Please support my fundraising – every donation helps :)
