Story
I am taking on My Marathon My Way in April in memory of my son, Lucan M. McCormack. On 08 August last year, five months into my pregnancy, I gave birth to my beautiful little boy. My partner and I had to make a difficult decision to end a very much wanted pregnancy due to medical issues Lucan had and this broke our hearts.
This is a decision no parent should ever have to make and it weighs on me everyday. My little boy existed ever so briefly, he mattered, was deeply loved and wanted. The impact he has made has forever changed me.
One thing that has helped me in my grief are the wonderful people at Aberdeen Sands. They have allowed me to talk about my son with no judgement and have continued to support me as I navigate my grief journey.
I would like to give something back to Sands for all their help. Pregnancy loss happens more often than people think and the work they do is really important. From raising awareness, kitting out bereavement rooms and funding research, their work is admirable. My own loss has shown me there isn't enough support out there and I'm so grateful that I reached out to them.
My initial target was £200 and I've smashed that thanks to all my amazing donors so far. In light of this I'm increasing my target to £500 and any contribution, no matter how big or small, is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
