Over the past 2 years I have volunteered for Samaritans at the Glasgow Branch. I initially started off just wanting to try something different when I volunteered. My journey since then has been life changing. For those of you who don't know, Samaritans is a non-profit charitable organisation that rely on the volunteers who man the phones 24/7, 365 days a year. All volunteers at Samaritans give up a bit of themselves and their time to help and support callers who are in distress and as much as Samaritans was life changing for me, it can be life changing for the callers who phone for support. The volunteers at the Glasgow branch come from all walks of life and range in ages, all with the same vision of supporting people in distress. Although none of the volunteers are paid, it still costs us a lot of money to maintain our building, train new volunteers and answer the phones as well as responding to text messages, emails and seeing people face to face.In light of the above i have decided to push myself to the limits (and for those of you who know me this will be a massive push!) and climb the famous Mount Kilamanjaro, the highest freestanding mountain in the world. This will be a massive challenge for me, however it is all in aid of a good cause and all proceeds will go back to the Samaritans, Glasgow Branch! So please get digging deep in those pockets of yours and remember no donation is too little. Thank you for taking the time to read this, off to wear my climbing boots in!Jules xxxThanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
