Story
My father was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease when I was only two-years-old. Having to grow up with such an amazing and caring dad is something I would never give up. Being able to discover through him my love for books and why we should be constantly learning from the world has been one of the best gifts I’ve ever received, but having to watch his disease progress has been one of the hardest too. All these years have opened my eyes to what living with Parkinson's disease means and how it means much more than trembling or being rigid. It has always amazed me how he never gives up and has a constantly positive attitude in his battle with a neurodegenerative disease without a cure. As such, trough running I want to be able to help others with my father's disease. I want to raise awareness and so that in the future other dad's like him get to spend more good and happy years surrounded by their loved ones, learning from then everyday as I still keep learning from my dad.
The Parkinson's Foundation makes life better for people with Parkinson’s disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure. In everything we do, we build on the energy, experience and passion of our global Parkinson's community.
